A brief breakdown of what Joey’s Gym offers:

Weight Lifting Room:

weights-sthelensJoey’s Gym provides a no nonsense weightlifting facility and main workout area, which primarily consists of free weights including dumbbells, barbells and exercise machines. This area includes mirrors so that exercisers can monitor and maintain correct posture during your workout. This room is extremely popular with our male members but we openly encourage the ladies to try out ay of the weights and our staff are always on hand to offer advice and guidance.


Exercise Room:

exercise St HelensThe Exercise Room at Joey’s Gym St Helens includes many types of cardiovascular training-related equipment such as rowing machines, stationary exercise bikes, elliptical trainers and treadmills. This areas includes a number of audio-speakers placed on walls around the area  in order to keep exercisers entertained during long cardio workout sessions. This room is extremely popular with our female members and more mature members. We have an abundance of equipment and guarantee that you will never be left waiting to use it.

Exercise classes

fitness-class-sthelensJoey’s Gym St Helens Fitness Centre offers a wide range of group exercise classes to both adults and children. The lessons are conducted by certified fitness instructors. Many types of group exercise classes exist, these include classes based on aerobics, cycling (spin cycle), boxing or martial arts, high intensity training, step, regular Boot Camps and muscle training, and self-defense classes such as Jiu-Jitsu. Our instructors must gain certification in order to teach these classes and ensure your safety.

Boxing Academy

boxing sthelensHere at Joey’s Gym we are the one stop shop for Boxing in the whole of the St Helens and surrounding area.
Sutton Boxing Academy is a well established Charity Organisation that opened its doors in 2007 for children and adults through out the St Helens Borough.
Our Academy with it’s 21st  Century ring and state of the art branded boxing   equipment provides class and individual training which enables each individual to cater a program to suit their fitness goals boxing ambitions and needs.
Our fully kitted boxing area  provides all our Boxing based classes with the space and equipment to meet the needs of Amateur Boxers at all levels along with contact/non contact for children and adults.

 Personal training

St Helens BoxingJoey’s Gym offers you the choice of a number of personal trainers who are accessible to members for training, fitness, nutrition,  health advice and consultation. Personal trainers can devise a customized fitness routine, sometimes including a nutrition plan, to help you achieve your personal fitness goals. They can also monitor and train with you if required.

The access to personal trainers may involve an additional fee.


Nutritional Advice

nutrition-sthelensKnowing how to maximize your performance though good nutrition can make the difference between having the energy to win and enjoy your sports, or running out of steam, leading to disappointment and frustration – no matter how much training and preparation you’ve undergone.
To help you understand more about how good nutrition will help you perform at your best, Joey’s Gym have developed a number of programs to assist you. These include information on what to eat before, during and after training, how to manage your nutritional needs on competition or game days, key foods to keep in your cupboard and fridge, examples of menu plans, nutritional profiles of star athletes and recipes to enjoy. As well as information specific to your sport, there is also general information on what to eat whilst travelling, the importance of carbohydrates, the glycemic index and much more.
